The Minister of Justice, Jeton Shasivari, met with the Director of IFES for North Macedonia, Ms. Ioana Cosma, in order to discuss the electoral reform process and further steps to improve electoral legislation.
The focus of the conversation was the need to lead this process through dialogue, involving all stakeholders and finding sustainable solutions that will contribute to strengthening trust in the electoral process.
The Ministry of Justice has already taken steps to re-establish dialogue between political stakeholders. The last consultative meeting with representatives of parliamentary parties was part of the efforts to unblock the process and return open issues to the table for discussion.
Shasivari stressed that electoral reform cannot be a one-sided process and that its advancement requires continuous communication, a willingness to hear the arguments of all sides, and an approach aimed at building consensus.
The cooperation with IFES and the experience that this organization brings to electoral processes, as well as the possibilities for this expertise to be used in further work on electoral reform, were also discussed with Cosma.
