Sector for international legal cooperation
This sector, as part of its numerous competencies, follows the international legal order and prepares proposals for initiating a procedure for signing and ratification of international legal instruments in the areas in which the Ministry of Justice has primary competence, with a preliminary analysis of the legal regulations of RM.
In this way, the sector for international legal cooperation contributes to the process of harmonization of the domestic legislation with the EU standards and international legal order, with the final effect of compliance being achieved by initiating a procedure for appropriate amendments and supplements to the laws in the Republic of Macedonia. However, the amendments to domestic laws are not made at all costs. There are certain specificities of the domestic legal order that are part of the country's tradition and as functioning legal institutes are deeply rooted in the nation's awareness. Therefore, where it is possible, the right to adequate reserves, statements, declarations, which the RM puts on the international instruments that it ratifies, is used.
During many years of work in this area, the sector for international legal cooperation has developed from the bearer of the first "pioneering" ratifications that the Republic of Macedonia made at the beginning of its sovereign existence to an exceptional team of practitioners always focused on achieving legal excellence in the ratification procedures that the sector raises them.
