The Government has approved the Draft Law on Civil Procedure, which reduces fines for participants in the procedure

This systemic and reform solution is of exceptional importance for the judicial system.
Key innovations:
• Mandatory representation by a lawyer is introduced
• Key issues such as expert testimony, delivery and small value disputes are regulated
• Fines for participants in the procedure are reduced
• Electronic work and delivery are promoted
• Representative lawsuits for the protection of the collective interests of consumers are introduced for the first time
• Hearings are held electronically
The law is the result of two years of work by an expert group, with the involvement of the judiciary, the academic community, the economy and the civil sector, as well as a broad public debate with hundreds of comments and proposals.
With its adoption, it is expected the efficiency, transparency and functionality of the civil procedure to be improved, in accordance with modern standards and the reform agenda of the state.
This law represents a significant step towards a stronger and more efficient justice system.
