There can be no resocialization and rehabilitation with bad conditions in prisons.
The Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, visited the Idrizovo prison after yesterday's incident that happened in the closed department of the prison, where members of the prison police and prisoners were injured.
In the conversation with the Director of the prison, Zoran Jovanovski, the Minister was informed about the event as well as about the problems that the institution is facing with: the overcrowding, the lack of adequate spatial conditions for accommodation, the lack of medical staff and persons in charge of resocialization. After the search, 37 metal rods, 21 wooden handles, 3 cables, 12 screws, 15 knives, 4 screwdrivers, a plastic syringe with 2 needles, scissors, pieces of broken glass and 3 mobile phone chargers were found in the ambulance department. During the physical confrontation, material damage was caused. In the coming period, it is necessary to adopt specific measures to improve conditions in prisons.
