The Minister of Justice, Jeton Shasivari, held a meeting with the permanent coordinator of the United Nations in the Republic of North Macedonia, Rita Columbia and Marko Vujačić from the Office of the UNOPS, where they reviewed the priorities in the reform of the judiciary and the next steps for modernization and improvement of the system.
Special attention was paid to the expert support provided by the United Nations in the reform processes, the development of institutional capacities and the digitization of the judiciary, as one of the key prerequisites for faster, better quality and affordable services for citizens.
In the framework of future cooperation, further activities aimed at further modernization of the judicial system were determined, with a special emphasis on upgrading the AKMIS system, establishing a system for electronic delivery in court proceedings, improving the system for audio and video recording of court hearings, improving interoperability between institutions, as well as strengthening cyber-security in the judicial sector.
The experiences that UNOPS has already realized in the countries of the region represent an important basis for supporting the reform processes in our country as well.
The partnership with the United Nations has a significant role in implementing reforms and harmonizing domestic legislation and institutional practices with European and international standards, with the goal of creating a modern, efficient and accessible justice system for citizens.
