Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, attended the promotion of the guide for providing free legal aid in asylum procedures in our country.
"I am proud that after a long period we are providing an important tool that enables access to legal aid, which will help asylum seekers to get free legal aid.
The guide is the result of cooperation between the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the High Commissioner for Refugees in North Macedonia (UNHCR), the Macedonian Association of Young Lawyers and the Bar Association of the Republic of North Macedonia.
I think it is extremely important that for the first time in our country the guide covers the rights and procedures and explains the steps to ensure free legal aid for asylum seekers without limited freedom of movement in the regular procedure, in the emergency procedure and for asylum seekers with limited freedom of movement," said in his address the Minister of Justice, Filkov.
In the next period, the Ministry of Justice will work on simplifying the procedures for obtaining free legal aid, on deepening cooperation with non-governmental organizations working in this area and providing a system for online applications, which will be available to all.
Effective access to justice is the basis of the legal system for everyone, and for the Ministry of Justice it is of key importance for strengthening justice and fairness in our society.
