The working group for reforms in the electoral legislation continues its work, the recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR are being reviewed.

The Working Group for Reforms in the Electoral Legislation held its fourth session today, during which it continued reviewing the recommendations for improving the Electoral Code, in accordance with the recommendations of the OSCE/ODIHR and the obligations foreseen in the Reform Agenda.
In relation to the participation of the SDSM, it was pointed out that the Ministry of Justice has not yet received an official written notification for their withdrawal from the process. In that direction, an expectation was expressed that this political party will reconsider its position and will continue to participate in the work of the group, with the aim of reforms in the electoral legislation to carry out a broad political and institutional dialogue, in the interest of democratic processes and confidence in the electoral system.
At the sessions, the recommendations were reviewed and agreed upon and accepted by consensus from the present members of the Working Group . The members will also receive the final OSCE/ODIHR report for the local elections of 2025, which contains recommendations for additional improvement of the electoral regulations and practices in the implementation of the elections. A significant part of the recommendations are repeated from previous election cycles, which confirms the need for their systematic implementation.
The Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, also informed about the meetings held with the SEC, AVMU, SCPC, with representatives of the civil sector, the State Audit Office and OSCE/ODIHR, from which additional opinions and recommendations were submitted, which will be the subject of consideration at the following sessions.
The process will continue to be conducted inclusively and through dialogue between political parties, institutions and affected parties, with the aim of ensuring legal solutions in accordance with international democratic standards.
