Ministry of justice Ministry of justice

The proposed amendments envisage:

Strengthening the capacities of the Personal Data Protection Agency

Providing all necessary resources for the effective performance of its functions and powers, in order to guarantee autonomous, independent and impartial functioning, in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (General Data Protection Regulation – GDPR).

Alignment with the recommendations of the European Commission’s 2025 Report

Implementation of the recommendations set out in the 2025 Report on North Macedonia, in order to improve the legal framework and practical application.

New facilitations for the transfer of personal data to third countries

Alignment with the latest European standards and recommendations of the European Data Protection Board, which relate to European essential guarantees and measures for the transfer of personal data.

New facilitating measures are proposed for controllers and processors, with the aim of simplifying the procedures for transfers to third countries and international organizations.

We call on all stakeholders – institutions, companies, professional and academic communities – to actively engage in the process with their comments and suggestions through ENER.

Together, we are building a stronger system for  protection of personal data, aligned with European standards and best practices.
