Filkov – Canel: The Netherlands supports justice reforms

The Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, today met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to North Macedonia, H.E. Özlem Canel. They discussed the possibilities for deepening of cooperation, mutual support in key processes, as well as for the activities that the Ministry of Justice will undertake in the coming period, which refer to reforms in the judiciary in order to increase the trust of citizens and build a stronger legal system.

Minister Filkov thanked the Аmbassador for their commitment to the European reform agenda as well as the help provided through the projects financed by the Netherlands, which relate to the quality and accountability of the Macedonian justice system, strengthening the accountability, efficiency and transparency of the Judicial Council, support of the Academy of judges and public prosecutors, and the rule of law.

Ambassador Canel wished Minister Filkov success in the performance of his position as Minister and said that the Netherlands will continue to implement projects in the field of justice in the future, supporting the prison system, as well as greater application of probation in our country.
