The Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, and the Minister of Justice of Montenegro, Bojan Bozovic, who is on a two-day working visit to our country, signed a joint statement on cooperation in the area of the rule of law and the independence of judiciary, which reaffirms our commitment to promoting cooperation and exchange of experiences in several key areas:
- Strengthening the rule of law and the independence of judiciary in the context of EU integration;
- Improving judicial independence and legal certainty;
- Joint efforts in the fight against corruption and organized crime;
- Support for legal reforms and strengthening of institutions, including opportunities for institutional and financial support;
- Digitalization of judicial processes and increased transparency through e-services.
Montenegro and the Republic of North Macedonia share many similarities in the reform process, especially within the framework of European integration. These reforms, set out through the Reform Agenda and the Growth Plan, are crucial for our progress towards full membership in the European Union.
Regional cooperation is essential for the successful implementation of these reforms, especially in the judiciary. Today's meeting was an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences and good practices, which will help us overcome the challenges on the path to the EU.
