The Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union organized the Meeting of the High Representatives for Justice and Home Affairs (SOM).

The Justice Session was dedicated to key topics in the area of ​​the rule of law and the fight against corruption, with a special emphasis on the protection of whistleblowers.

The discussion focused on the importance of civil society, independent media and human rights defenders in strengthening democracy and protecting the rule of law, as well as the need for the judiciary to be protected from undue political influence. In his address, the representative of the Ministry of Justice, State Counselor Nikola Prokopenko, emphasized the importance of the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary as the foundation of any democratic society. He informed that active work is underway to implement the Sector Development Strategy for the Judiciary, with significant involvement of the civil sector. He pointed out that civil society organizations actively participate in working groups for the preparation of legal solutions and are part of various committees and bodies, which is evidence of the openness and inclusiveness of the institutions. In addition, the preparation of the new Government Strategy for Cooperation with Civil Society for the period 2025–2028 was announced. Within the framework of the discussions related to the fight against corruption, we emphasized that this issue is one of the main priorities of the Government.

The Presidency and the European Commission, in their presentations, emphasized the importance of cooperation with partners from the Western Balkans and emphasized the role of civil society in preserving European values.
