Today, the Minister of Justice Igor Filkov signed the third additional protocol to the European Convention on Mutual Cooperation in Criminal Matters in Valletta, Malta, where the conference of Ministers of Justice is being held within the framework of the Maltese presidency of the Council of Europe. Thus, our country is one of the first to accede to the protocol, clearly expressing its determination to actively contribute and participate in the joint fight against crime that knows no borders.
This protocol enables direct electronic communication through secured channels that will accelerate and simplify mutual international cooperation, and video conferences are also enables to eliminate the travel costs and reduces delays in procedures. The protocol also contains mechanisms for efficient procedures.
