The Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, held a meeting with the permanent coordinator of the United Nations in Macedonia, Ms.Rita Columbia, the regional director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Ms. Mikela Talin, the representative of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms.Tanja Temelkoska, and Mr. Marko Vujačić, the Head of the (UNOPS) program for Southeast Europe.
They discussed the possibilities for establishing a strategic partnership in the process of digital transformation of the judiciary, as one of the key prerequisites for a more efficient, transparent and accessible judicial system.
Future steps were agreed with an emphasis on the need for modernization and upgrading of AKMIS, establishment of a system for electronic delivery in court proceedings, improvement of the system for audio and video recording of court hearings, improvement of interoperability between institutions and strengthening of cyber security in the judicial sector.
The experiences that UNOPS has already realized in the countries of the region represent an important basis for supporting the reform processes in our country as well.
The Ministry of Justice remains committed to creating a modern judiciary that will respond to the needs of citizens and will follow European and international standards. Support from the United Nations and UNOPS in this process is extremely important for the successful implementation of reforms and the acceleration of the digital transformation of the justice system.
