- The purpose of the amendments is to harmonize the text of the law with the Convention on Access to official documents of the Council of Europe - Tromsø, to improve the efficiency of the procedure for free access to public information, as well as strengthen the responsibility of the holders of public information.
- The amendments aim to provide an efficient and faster mechanism by which institutions in the Republic of North Macedonia will be able to ensure a fair and rapid procedure for requests for access to public information, and if the requests relate to information of public interest, the publication of which depends on the protection of human health and the environment, the holder is obliged to respond immediately without delay, and no later than within three days.
