In the training center of the Penitentiary Institution Idrizovo, the Minister of Justice, Igor Filkov, had a working meeting with the Director of the Directorate for Enforcement of Sanctions, Aleksandar Pandov, and with directors and deputy directors of all prison institutions in the country.
The meeting was focused on understanding the actual situation and the issues that the prison institutions are faced with. The problems are detected primarily in the lack of spatial conditions of the institutions, the lack of employees, both from the security services and in the section for the resocialization of convicts.
The problem with the lack of financial resources was emphasized regarding closure of the current year, 2024, and this issue persists despite the rebalancing of the budget. The lack of vehicles for escorting inmates and the need for digitization of the institutions were also presented as ongoing issues.
