Meeting Shasivari – Kostadinovski: Strengthening the institutional dialogue on the rule of law and European integration

The Minister of Justice, Jeton Shasivari, held a working meeting today with the President of the Constitutional Court, Darko Kostadinovski, and the Јudge, Ana Pavlovska-Daneva.
The meeting represents an important step in further promoting the institutional dialogue and inter-institutional cooperation, especially in areas of importance for strengthening the rule of law, the protection of human rights and freedoms and the advancement of judicial reforms in accordance with the European standards.

The conversation emphasized the importance of the Constitutional Court as the highest guarantee of constitutionality and the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, and as an essential pillar of the rule of law. In that context, special attention was paid to the consistent and timely respect and implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court, as an obligation arising from the constitutional order, but also as a prerequisite for legal certainty, citizens' trust in institutions and effective protection of their rights.

The interlocutors emphasized the need for continuous and open institutional dialogue, based on respect for constitutional competences, the independence of institutions and joint responsibility for strengthening the rule of law.

The meeting confirmed the joint determination to promote coordination and cooperation mechanisms in the process of judicial reforms and European integration, with the aim of building a transparent, independent, efficient and accountable legal system in which human rights and freedoms are at the center of institutional action.

The Ministry of Justice and the Constitutional Court remain committed to a constructive institutional dialogue and partnership, within the framework of their constitutional and legal competences, in the interest of citizens and the European future of the country.
