State progress and reforms in the justice system for children presented in Istanbul

A representative from the Ministry of Justice participated in the regional conference “Putting Deterrence and Restorative Approaches at the Center” organized by UNICEF and the Ministry of Justice of Turkey. During the conference, we had an opportunity to present the state’s progress and reforms that have been made in the justice system for children, with a focus on the Law on Justice for Children. We joined the call for action prepared by UNICEF and the Republic of Turkey, building on our collective efforts and commitments, calling for: a restorative justice approach as the foundation of the justice system for children, the appropriate use of the measure of deterrence as much as possible and as early as possible, and the actions of all professionals guided by the best interests of the children.
